ICPA SOCIETY PRACTITIONER’S FORUM
In February 2017, the ICPA Society formally established a Practitioner’s Arm aiming to enhance interaction, coordination and meaningful dialogue between key operational and strategic decision-makers, academic researchers and other senior advisors. The rationale, brought forward by the affiliated JCPA: Research and Practice, highlights to the necessity for a comparative dialogue between the public service and the academia to exchange knowledge and lesson drawing in a competitive global world where scarcity of resources often prevail and quality, speed, efficiency, and effectiveness matter.
The policy arena chosen for initial focus and collaboration was healthcare policy. The collaboration model developed relies on a series of partnerships. To pilot this model within the vast healthcare policy space, we focused on the effective mobilization of the workforce given the significance of workforce challenges on the public agenda and in sustaining healthcare service delivery.
The First Paractitioner’s Forum titled “Comparative Forum on Healthcare Workforce Mobilization’ was undertaken in Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, and served as a pilot for the practitioners-academia collaboration model under the umbrella of the ICPA Society.
